Louisiana House
Charming Fairhope Cottage
A charming cottage in the fruit and nut area of downtown Fairhope. On a small 100’x 55’ lot we were able to design a cozy three bedroom two bath home and bring the outside in with an inviting front porch and outdoor shower.
Using every inch of available building space on the lot, and a reasonable variance from the city, the home incorporates the owners wishes in a beautiful location.
Bay Front Tucked in the Oaks
A beautiful bay front lot with majestic live oak trees and only 46’ of building width, did not deter these owners from building their dream home. With several grandchildren they wanted space for everyone and some nooks for reading and quiet naps, along with large open living for the family to gather. A large kitchen and dining were essential for the large family and their friends. A story and a half main house, to stay under the oak trees, the upstairs rooms are tucked into the eaves including a hidden children’s playroom. There are also guest quarters over the garage. With over 4200 square feet of living area, there is room for everybody, yet the home does not crowd the setting or the beautiful trees.
Bayside Weekend Getaway
This home was a weekend getaway for a couple from nearby Mobile. She is an artist and you can see her artistic touches throughout the home. There are many open spaces which make it live bigger than it’s size. Many unique features such as a dining area with a bench built into a wall unit and a cozy living area that makes maximum use of its space without feeling crowded. The master suite takes in the upstairs offering wonderful bay views and a window seat for quiet reading or an afternoon nap. The other two bedrooms and bath are on the main floor. Screened porches, decks, and ground level outdoor living add to the overall vacation feel.
Coastal Traditional
A large home designed for a young family, it has five bedrooms, four bathrooms, large family areas and a bay view. Although not directly on the water, we wanted to maximize the views with double gallery porches. There are also water views from the kitchen, dining, study, and upstairs bedrooms. With a large master suite downstairs, four bedrooms and two baths upstairs, and 3800 square feet of living area, there is plenty of room for this growing family.
Craftsman with Garage and Guest Quarters
A craftsman bungalow in downtown Fairhope makes full use of the corner lot while working around the trees. It is the home of retirees who wanted room for their visiting children and grandchildren. The downstairs master suite with separate walk-in closets includes a roomy bath with a spa tub and large shower. A study, kitchen, living, and dining room are downstairs as well.
Upstairs we added two more bedrooms a large bath with separate spa tub and shower, and an upstairs den. We also took advantage of unused attic space to add built in bunks in the upstairs hall for additional guest sleeping. Lots of useable space in just 2700 square feet. There is also 480 square feet of storage over the garage that has been pre-plumbed for conversion to additional guest quarters.
Fairhope Corner Cottage
This home In the fruit and nut district of Fairhope was designed for the daughter of a local builder and her family. With the 40’ wide building footprint and the features they wanted, we had to make use of every nook and cranny.
With several children, they wanted three bedrooms and an upstairs playroom/den. To make the bedrooms seem more spacious, we cantilevered out window seats. The fireplace in the living room was also cantilevered out for more space downstairs. The master suite, open living, dining, and kitchen, along with an office are downstairs As well. There is also almost 700 square feet of guest quarters over the carport.
